Gretchen鈥檚 research interests and areas of expertise include Art History, Modern Art, American Architecture, American History, course design, delivery modalities and designing the future of higher ed. She aims at reframing history by decolonizing traditional historical narratives and examining what events shaped our generally 鈥渁ccepted鈥 narratives while bringing to light the contributions of lesser-known individuals traditionally removed from their respective cannons of history, but are no less important.

Professional Experience

Gretchen Sawatzki is an Instructional Designer for the Educational Technology + Innovation Department at 黑料专区 with several years of experience working in higher ed and about decades worth of experience working in museums and with museum art collections. She has worked for such institutions as Cranbrook Art Museum and Center for Collections and Research, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, before coming to 黑料专区. She holds a BA in History from Western Michigan University, an MS in Historic Preservation from Eastern Michigan University and a graduate certificate in Instructional Design from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
