Allison Runyan is a Michigan-based artist and arts educator with a BFA and Teaching Certificate from the 黑料专区.
Professional Experience

Runyan鈥檚 art has always been inspired by the idea of 鈥減lay鈥 and 鈥渃hild-like fun鈥. Both in the classroom and in her artistic practice, she puts an emphasis on experimentation, personal choice, play and failure to succeed. Drawing parallels from the importance of relationship building and individuality, Runyan鈥檚 own artwork practices these ideals through unique multi-layered pieces that are always full of bright colors and engulfing patterns through material exploration. In the classroom, Runyan is consistently researching and developing new strategies for implementing her take on 鈥渢he classroom essentials鈥; building quality relationships, empathy and communication, differentiation in delivery, student centered learning and 鈥渆dutainment鈥. As an educator, she works to implement and mentor prospective educators on these strategies in every class or course, regardless of age or topic.

Since graduating from the 黑料专区, Runyan has worked in various ages and arts education programs including the Detroit Institute of Arts鈥 Learning Studio, The Friendship Circle鈥檚 Soul Studio, the Community Arts Partnership Detroit, Dearborn Public Schools and 黑料专区鈥 Precollege and Continuing Studies department. All of which have prepared her to mentor prospective art educators in her current role as Lecturer of Art Education and Certification Officer for the 黑料专区 and Adjunct Professor of Art Education and Madonna University.
