CANCELLED: Woodward Lecture Series: Loris Gr茅aud

About the Event

Woodward Lecture

The Woodward Lecture featuring Loris Gr茅aud, originally scheduled for April 6 and then rescheduled for April 27, has been cancelled.

Loris Gr茅aud is an internationally acclaimed artist whose practice constructs immersive environments that blur the boundaries between fiction and reality, collapsing physical and mental spaces through elements such as rumor, poetry, architecture, and self-negation. In this talk, Gr茅aud will discuss his broader body of work while focusing on CORTICAL, an ongoing cycle developed in collaboration with international partner institutions, including the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, the Petit Palais, the MAH in Geneva, and the Th茅芒tre du Ch芒telet.

This lecture is presented in partnership with the Museum for Contemporary Art Detroit.

Artist Bio: Since the early 2000s, Loris Gr茅aud has developed a singular trajectory in the international contemporary art scene whereby he constructs unique environments to house disruptive elements, often with an ambiguous narrative that blurs the boundaries between fiction and reality. Rumors, poetry, viruses, architecture and demolition, academicism and self-negation are therefore regularly summoned in his work as it strives to oppose the separation between physical and mental spaces.

Gr茅aud has held numerous solo exhibitions, including at the Palais de Tokyo, Mus茅e du Louvre, Centre Pompidou, Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the ICA London, Kunsthalle Wien, Tel Aviv Museum of Art鈥 and his works are part of prestigious international collections such as, le Mus茅e d鈥橝rt Moderne de Paris; Collection Fran莽ois Pinault (Venise); Fondation Louis Vuitton (Paris), Nam June Paik Art Center (Korea) or Hirshhorn Museum (Washington).
