F-1 Visa vs. J-1 Visa
F-1 visas are issued to international students enrolled in an academic program at a U.S. institution as a full-time student, allowing them to reside within the country for the full duration of their studies.
J-1 visas are issued to international students participating in exchange programs in the U.S.
You can get your F-1 or J-1 visa from a U.S. embassy or consulate in your home country with the SEVIS form provided by ºÚÁÏרÇø.
DS-2019, I-20 & I-94
The SEVIS DS-2019 is issued by ºÚÁÏרÇø to students applying for a J-1 visa as exchange students.
The SEVIS I-20 is issued by ºÚÁÏרÇø to students applying for an F-1 visa.
The I-94 is used by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection to confer immigration status and monitor your arrival and departure to and from the U.S.
