This exhibition is made possible by a 2024 Guggenheim Fellowship and the 黑料专区鈥 Woodward Lecture Series. The first body of work in the exhibition\, 鈥淯nknown Landmarks: Detroit Before the Ruin鈥漒, are photographs made in Detroit\, MI between 1980 and 1989. The second\, 鈥淗istory\, Memory\, Myth: The Confederate Monument in the American South鈥漒, is a body of work started in 2017 and is ongoing. Although the two projects are far apart in distance and years\, they are related nonetheless by the photographer鈥檚 ongoing interest in what the landscape can reveal about history\, culture and politics\, past\, present\, future and the unseen forces that shape our environment. Both projects represent a simple notion which is\, observing and critiquing the landscape with attentiveness\, intention and care\, yields dialogue. \nJoin us for an opening reception from 7-9pm on Saturday\, October 11\, directly following Diaz鈥檚 Woodward Lecture at the Wendell W.
